Louis Vuitton A/W 2015 show diary : see all the pics

Fashion week month is over and the hangover has set in. I had a huge party and now my head’s  little fuzzy with the realisation that it’s over and I’ll have to wait a whole season for all those designs to hit the stores! The Louis Vuitton show, held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton was the climax for me. Not only did I get all dressed up, have amazing access to see front rowers and celebs entering the Fondation but I revelled in experiencing the energy of the show, eyeballed who was wearing what, marvelled at the ingenious structure, designed by Es Devlin, and ogled Nicolas Ghesquière’s magnificent collection. If you haven’t managed to watch it yet – GO! The highlight was taking over Louis Vuitton’s South African twitter account, alongside well-known bloggers (Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine and The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni, amongst others who took over their respective home country’s accounts). What a fun experience and I’m still pinching myself! It’s not often a girl gets a great opportunity with a lust-have-must-have luxury brand like Louis Vuitton – and this time, I’m not even talking handbags here – I’m talking about sitting at the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week surrounded by fashion’s finest tweeting from Louis Vuitton South Africa’s twitter account. I think I may still be in shock, and up until I received this gorgeous invite I didn’t really believe it was going to happen – it is on! See more details on Louisvuitton.com I’m grabbing this once-in-a-lifetime chance, along with my borrowed new season handbag, and tweeting my ass off! Come and join me, it’ll be awesome to have the support, as I tweet you through the show in 140 characters and a few images at a time! You’ll find me at @louisvuitton_za Wish me luck! XO

Want to know how to play it cool “Front Row”?

Caroline de Maigret will tell you! If you haven’t heard the name Caroline de Maigret you’ll probably recognise her face has having covered some of the best fashion magazine covers across the world. The granddaughter of the former minister of the Interior and Health in France, Prince Michel Poniatowski, and the daughter of Count Bertrand de Maigret (this makes her pure blue-blood amongst french circles), Caroline is a successful model (appearing on Vogue US, Vogue UK, and Italian Vogue as well as walked the runway for Chanel and Prada in the last year alone). She’s a Chanel muse and owner of her own record label and publishing company. The Ultimate Parisian style icon is also the best-selling author of How to be Parisian Wherever You Are and is mom to Anton – whew! Talk about the ultimate multi-tasker. (Read more on Style.com) I give you a very brief synopsis of this inspiring woman mainly as the preview a very cute, chic and funny video she did for H&M – ahead of the retailer’s show for Paris Fashion week on …

My very own luxury hound slipper – whaaat!?

The fashion world can definitely take themselves too seriously at times – especially when we’re talking fashion weeks. Four weeks per season where editors, buyers, designers, PR peeps, bloggers and models do the four cities – New York, London, Milan and Paris – in just over four weeks. Whew! This week we started the last of the leg of the marathon month in jolie Paris, but I thought I’d do a little catwalk-recap of Milan. While looking through the hundreds of catwalk pics from Missoni to Marni there is one particular image that has been stuck on repeat in my memory … The Gucci Hairy Shoes! Was this a joke by newly promoted Creative Director, Alessandro Michele? I mean I know there have been complaints that Gucci hasn’t had a “point of view” but this is an interesting one to take – disruptive perhaps? I do love the fact that perhaps there is a little laugh to be had – I certainly giggled at the thought of Paris’s fashpack cruising along Rue St Honoré with these furry horsebit …

D&G love the mamas!

The plus belle crush of all is the love I have for my kids and Dolce & Gabbana mirrored this mom/baby bond with their awesome Autumn Winter 2015 collection at Milan Fashion week! Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are known to show the whole famille with multiple generations in their campaigns but today’s collection, “Viva La Mamma”, was an ode to mamas everywhere. Not only did the designers show their wearable creations with scrawled slogans such as “Je t’aime maman” (I love you mom) but the show was a celebration of motherhood. Toddlers in matching gear to the moms, bambino’s perched on hips and perfectly posed children strutted alongside their gorgeous mothers. The invitation featured children drawings and wobbly handwriting with messages like ‘ti amo mama‘ (I love you, mom). The kiddie’s writing and pictures reminding me that the Italian duo did create a spectacular wedding dress for the ultimate Hollywood mama, Angelina Jolie, that had her brood’s drawings embroidered on her gown. Along with Dolce & Gabbana’s signature roses and lace details emblazoned on feminine dresses, models were accessorised with jewel …

De-Fendi-ng the Strelitzia

You may be forgiven if you don’t know what a Strelitzia is, however after Fendi’s show in Milan this week it seems that more of the fashion world will now know what I’m referring to. Also know as the Crane flower or Bird of Paradise flower, this graphic-like long stemmed orange and purple bloom is indigenous to South Africa, yip, our very own piece of L’ Afrique du Sud had Karl Lagerfeld inspired! Who knew he was such a fan?! I can’t say that growing up I was that much of a fan of this flower, my grandfather had a huge plant in his garden that continuously bloomed, but these plants seemed so ugly compared to the prettier petunias, roses and camellia flowers that sat alongside them and flowers still remind me of South African homes circa the 1980’s – along with aged brown patterned sofa’s and olive green carpets. But like everything, these bird-like flowers are having their resurgent moment and what better way than on on of the world’s most prestigious catwalk right? And now that …

My ABC’s of NYFW

A/W 2015 #NewYorkfashionweek at a glance It’s awesome that it’s still winter right?* I mean in the kind of way that as the new collections for the neeeeeeext cold season are steaming up the catwalks we can already calculate what we’re adding to our wardrobes now, or what hair, shoe and bag trends we’ll be keeping and which ones we’ll be ditching . As I try (mediocrely) hard to start a capsule wardrobe for myself – um, let’s call this a “work in process” – I’m doing a mini shop in my mind for which items I’ll be buying to add to this slow-in-the-progess capsule wardrobe. A/W 2015 fashion weeks are far from over (roll on the rest of London, on to Milan and finally my home city Paris) to finalise this mini-shop, but for now, here are a few things I’ve noticed from the New York catwalks to wet the wardrobe appetite, and a few street style favourites to give you inspiration right now… * I talk about winter, even though as I write this I’m …
