Eeny, meeny, miny, moe which one will I take to go?

Do you remember a time before the smart phone? I kinda do, but way back in my memory (I will admit I don’t have a very good one!) My point here is that, before I watched the promo video for the Apple Watch I wasn’t convinced that I would ever need something like THAT and I would far rather have a Cartier, Rolex or Chanel timepiece. Why would I want a timekeeper that looks like a miniature iPhone strapped to my wrist? Well, todays question to myself is, which one am I choosing? All I know is that this little piece of technology will basically run your life. You can text, what’s app, email, use google maps, request an Uber, call your mom, summon Siri and besides all that, it will also do that basic telling the time thing within “50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard” – what does that even mean? For every message or alert you set on this thoughtful timepiece, it will give you a gentle tap and you can even connect with your favourite people by sending …

Dreaming of azure waters, white beaches and sunshine thanks to Louis Vuitton

It’s no lie that whenever I’m back from a holiday I already start dreaming of and planning the next one. My desire to travel the world, meet new people and experience their cultures, food, fashion and way of life is well known amongst my friends and family. Perhaps this is why the Louis Vuitton Spirit of Travel Campaigns gets me all excited – “To travel is to live”. This season the luxury house has migrated to the perfect cerulean waters of the West Indies, specifically St. Barths, shining the sunlit-spotlight on it’s lightweight luggage and new Twist bag, designed by Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière for LV’s Spring collection. The mini video also highlights both the Alma and Epi bags in lickable sorbet colours – yum! Wherever you are, feel the sand under your toes, squint your eyes as you look out to the ocean and feel the breeze through your locks – go on, escape for a few minutes!   If you’re not quite finished with your mini travel-break, then see one of my favourites and the most magnificent so …

Carven presents its Saint Sulpice bag in the cutest mini-movie

It may seem as if I’m obsessed with handbags, and that would be a loud YES! But who isn’t with a whole new season of the beauties around? This cute video entitled “Can you hold my bag” directed by Mélinda Triana for Carven, landed in my inbox the other day and I’ve played it at least 13 times. Chic girls running around perfect Paris with Carven’s latest Saint Sulpice bags … I had you at handbag right?     http://www.carven.com

Miss Natalie Portman really is this pretty in real life…

Miss Dior’s newest ad campaign features Miss Portman as a runaway bride and she’s wearing the perfect strapless Dior couture gown embellished in delicate flowers… sigh, it’s the dress we all dream of and along with the sparkling blue waters of the French Riviera it looks like the perfect wedding. That is, until the bride kicks off her shoes, ditches the dress and hikes up a ladder into a helicopter and flies into the Parisian sunset with a super beau co-pilot! Watch the “It’s Miss, Actually” commercial and sob (like I did) when she dumps THE dress! Oh, and did I mention that I get to see this super-star most mornings on school drop-off and she really IS that pretty!

Sitting FROW at Lan Yu Couture at Paris fashion week

Last night I donned my FROW shoes and headed of to the Grand Palais with my gorgeous friend and model Ingrid Seynhaeve to watch Lan Yu‘s haute couture show. Lan Yu is one of China’s leading couture designers and her previous collections of dreamy wedding dresses make any girl want to get married… or in my case, married again! In last night’s show however there were no white bridal gowns but a striking collection of bright red couture gowns that reflect her personal commitment to preserving and sharing her Chinese culture whilst catering to a contemporary western customer. Her particular passion for the fine art of suzhou (a special technique of the Chinese art of embroidery whose secrets have been passed down through three generations of family) is seen throughout the collection and each gown is a unique masterpiece combining lace, satin and feathers. She’s combined these textures with transparent layers that carefully show off this embroidery skill and even though I would have nowhere to wear one of these showpieces a girl can certainly dream of having one in her …

Georgia May Jagger blooms for Mulberry

Perhaps it’s because it’s mid-january and the sky couldn’t be more grey and I’m pining for colour, blossoms and the sweet scent of spring but this campaign has made my tuesday! Georgia May Jagger stars in the Spring Summer 2015 campaign for the iconic british brand Mulberry and the video is full of pink, purple and white british blooms immediately transporting you to a dreamy summer’s day. Complete with seventies rock soundtrack and big hair, erm… and the bags aren’t bad either! Kendall Jenner’s sexy campaign for Estee Lauder

She’s 19-years-old, has 18.1 million followers on Instagram, is the famous little sister of Kim Kardashian and has recently been made the face of Estee Lauder. Kendall Jenner is not only unstoppable but she’s sexy and sultry in the debut campaign video for Estee Lauder showing off the cosmetic house’s latest product, Little Black Primer – LBP, get it? The product is an eyelash primer that amplifies volume and length and judging by the close-ups of Kendall’s lashes, it works! The reality star turned fashion icon uploaded the video on her Instagram account and so far it has received 334 568 likes, so here it is … What do you think? Leave a comment I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you liked the post, please share with your fashionista friends and follow me on Instagram and Facebook. XO

Elle’s touching tribute

When I was 21 years old I worked for Elle South Africa. I always knew I wanted to work for a magazine and from a young age I’ve had an interest in fashion so it was serendipitous that I was first hired as the magazine’s designer. I loved working for ELLE, I had amazing role models in women who were (and still are) intelligent, hard working, passionate and not only thought fashion was fabulous but that it was important to publish thought provoking articles on the world around us. It makes me extra proud that when I picked up the French edition of this week’s ELLE I can say that I was once part of this family. Their beautifully illustrated cover, by well-known Soledad, that conveys the sentiment of what we all want – peace. The magazine has run 13 pages on last week’s killings in a very profound and sensitive way. They list the names of all the people who were killed, commissioned young cartoonists to draw, published opinion pieces and articles from well-known actors and writers as well as quotes …

The return of John Galliano

With much of the fashion world talking about the return of John Galliano for Maison Martin Margiela after his four year “hiatus” following his scandalous anti-Semitic remarks it’s hard to ignore this as news (If you’re unfamiliar with the whole story then check it out here). He pulled quite a crowd with big name FROW-ers such as Kate Moss, Manolo Blahnik as well as other industry big-wigs like Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey and designer Jasper Conran. For me, as expected the collection was a little “weird”, while I applause creativity I’m not sure how any of these runway looks would quite work in my wardrobe and they remind me of some of the designs that come out of Project Runway! As Vogue UK Editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman wrote, “The restrained number of outfits played with deconstruction and the tenets of tailoring, salvage and restitution, luxe and tatters. A breastplate of shells might have adorned a trash-can Boadicea, a dress of carved black leather ribbons fell away into a tattered train. While a Principal Boy opened the …

Kate Moss sans make-up for Vogue Italy

As the weekend approaches and we’re hitting some “off-duty” time, I thought I’d share Kate Moss without make-up shot by Peter Lindberg for Vogue Italia‘s January 2015 edition. I found the images refreshing after all the high-gloss, flawless, perfectly shot and retouched campaign images that we always see her in. It’s lovely to see the the real 40-year-old mom with a few freckles and sun spots, a wrinkle here and there and not-so-perky perfect boobs – she does look a little depressed about it though! (giggle) Have a happy make-up free weekend!
