Love, Style and Bad Habits …

Parisian women have always seemed mysterious. The subtle pout, the nonchalant way they carry themselves and their confident low-key look that oozes femininity. Think Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Tautou, Marion Cotillard or Vanessa Paradis – sexy, stylish, alluring and seemingly mysterious and untouchable… until now. How to be Parisian Wherever You Are : Love, Style and Bad Habits is an insightful tongue and cheek manual written by four friends and Paris natives, Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret and Sophie Mas. I’ve just finished the book in Thailand (great for the holiday attention span!) and it’s the perfect handbook on how the modern Parisian woman manages to stay so mysterious that can be practiced wherever you are in the world. It’s penned as if you’ve just made friends with a bossy, opinionated Parisian and she’s dishing her intimate secrets, obviously with immaculate red lips while sipping a glass of red wine with a cigarette in hand! She’ll share her fashion tips, teach you how to make your boyfriend jealous and enlighten you on the etiquette for beauty products and plastic surgery. She’s the Paris …

Ultimate Wishlist : 22.12.2014

I love anything techie, however here is nothing more beautiful and simple than going “Old School”. Perhaps it comes from two generations of family before me, where my grandfather and my mother both used a diary to keep track of their daily goings on. The smell of the leather cover, the white pages filled with lists made in their handwriting, appointments that reflect the people they are and those in their lives and their future adventures. So in the spirit of Old School – and 125 years of tradition – I’m crushing on these two must-haves from British house, Smythson of Bond Street. A 2015 diary and a travel wallet, the perfect combo to keep track of all the travel to come in the new year! Move Over Choupette Lagerfeld, there’s a new Kitty in town…

It’s not often I think about having a little girl, well unless I see them twirling in princess dresses with cute bows in their hair, or when a children’s book like this one comes along… This read has it all! Style, humour, striking illustrations, a beautiful ending and best of all, stunning handbags. I loved following Coco Le Chat, written by South African born Nadine Rubin Nathan, and her fabulous wardrobe of glitzy tutus and extraordinary fascinators to my all time favourite city – New York. The pampered Parisian pussy takes you around the Big Apple dazzling the paparazzi while visiting renowned hotels, shopping the finest department stores and even lunching with a famous Editor (Psssst, can you guess?) If you’re a mama of girls (I tried very hard with my boys, but they kept asking about the one sports car that appeared on one of the pages completely missing the point!) they will love the mix of real life photography and illustration. They will revel in Coco’s outfits, the bright colours, her rhyming adventures and my …
