Louis Vuitton A/W 2015 show diary : see all the pics

Fashion week month is over and the hangover has set in. I had a huge party and now my head’s  little fuzzy with the realisation that it’s over and I’ll have to wait a whole season for all those designs to hit the stores! The Louis Vuitton show, held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton was the climax for me. Not only did I get all dressed up, have amazing access to see front rowers and celebs entering the Fondation but I revelled in experiencing the energy of the show, eyeballed who was wearing what, marvelled at the ingenious structure, designed by Es Devlin, and ogled Nicolas Ghesquière’s magnificent collection. If you haven’t managed to watch it yet – GO! The highlight was taking over Louis Vuitton’s South African twitter account, alongside well-known bloggers (Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine and The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni, amongst others who took over their respective home country’s accounts). What a fun experience and I’m still pinching myself! Watch the slideshow below and if you want more head over to: Photos by Jonathan Jones.

The most romantic guy in Paris is 2cm tall!

The other night I came across this fabulous and ingenious Instagram account, @Legocentric, and was totally amused by it. This may have something to do with our apartment being held hostage by these miniature “personage” or Lego men – Their best form of attack is crushing your bare feet in the dark! I caught up with the creators of these cutely curated images, couple Nicolas and his girlfriend Jen who he credits to having great ideas. Nicolas has been in Paris for 14 years after growing up in France’s south-east region and declares his love for the city. By day he’s a project manager for a consulting firm and so uses his photos as a creative outlet. He tells me that, “The original idea came to me almost 2 years ago in January 2013, a snowy day in Paris. I thought it would be funny to do a photo with mini figurine feet in the snow on my balcony. I used a mini Playmobil man but then I realized that the Lego men allow more creativity than …

A glass cloud? A floating sailboat? A smashed perfume bottle?

Nope, it’s the new Fondation Louis Vuitton recently opened in the Jardin d’acclimatation in the Bois de Bologne in the west of Paris. The merging of two visions between LVMH’s CEO, Bernard Arnault and Frank Gehry the controversial Canadian-American architect-extraordinaire. I headed there on a very grey Parisian day with my youngest strapped into his pram. There is no doubt when you arrive at the entrance that this building is special. It is ginormous in size and the shiny Louis Vuitton Logo stands out like a diamond encrusted brooch on the entrance lapel . From the publicity photos the building seems as if it’s floating like a glass cloud above the park and has in fact been described as a “cloud of glass – magical, ephemeral, all transparent” by Mr Gehry himself in a 2006 interview with the Guardian . But as I stood outside admiring it’s size I didn’t get a sense of anything light – the gallery is imposing, grand, powerful and dominant – which is perhaps a reflection of the luxury conglomerate itself. …
