How well do you know your Minionistas? Take the Quiz

Erm, heard of the Minions? If not then you MUST have been locked in a dark room in some kind of solitary confinement, ‘cause these little “Despicable Me” break-out stars are the biggest phenomenon at the moment! Every time I open my Facebook page there is a meme of one of them, although I still can never figure out if it’s Stuart, Kevin or Bob, glaring back at me! You don’t even have to be a 5-year-old, a parent or a Facebook fundi to be stalked by the minute bright yellow, pill-shaped posse – they can be seen everywhere from McDonalds to Selfridges and they even have their own Pantone shade called – you guessed it – Minion Yellow! The fashpack were not ones to ignore the huge phenomenon either, and big name designers such as Giles Decon and Rupert Sanderson have done collaborations with the minute characters, catapulting minionfever into the world of high fashion – and giving the little yellow army major style cred. British Vogue starred them on their cover and Suzy Menkes interviews …

Reflecting white

Just before heading east to Hong Kong, I managed a few more shoots in the beautiful city of Paris. With the backdrop of such an architecturally rich city it inspires one to “up ones game” and look chic even if in a pair of denims (did I mention how much I love a pair of denims?) I also love this summer’s all-white trend and I’ve longingly looked at the white denims in store and lusted after a pair, but each time I’ve slipped them on, they just don’t look right on me. So, instead I’ve found myself a light grey pair that I’m more comfortable in and works with summer’s lights ‘n whites – with the added help of these voguish Spartan sandals from IRO of course (totally obsessed with them). I’ve been able to mix and match these denims with almost everything and cheat on the all-white look too. So, if like me, you love the idea of summer whites but can’t bring yourself to wear an actual pair of white denims, then go for the …

Forcing a W’robe Detox

If you’ve been following me on Instagram you may have seen that I’ve moved. Yup, across the globe. I’ve changed apartment, city, country, continent, culture and time zone and now officially call Hong Kong home! As a family, this is our third move in under 5 years, and with each move I find myself detoxing my wardrobe! There is obviously a lot of other stuff that goes with moving half way across the world, but this seems like the most relevant for me today, as I sit in the same pair of denims I’ve been wearing for the last 3 weeks already (they have been in the laundry in between of course!) I am really surviving on a super-edited “Capsule Wardrobe”. At the end of every season I do find myself purging my closet. It’s an opportunity to reinvent your fashion-self, get out of a style-rut and reassess the clothes you own so that you show off your best parts – plus it’s extremely therapeutic and strangely cathartic. (and I ALSO have IKEA catalogue images stuck …

It’ll be hard to hold yourself back!

I’m sitting at my desk tonight catching up on a whoooole lot of admin but finding myself distracted by the stream of tweets and IG posts lighting up my iPhone screen with the hashtag #LVjozi (have I mentioned how much I hate admin?) Tonight, the who’s who of my home town, Johannesburg, have donned their best and highest heels to celebrate the newly re-launched Louis Vuitton store in Sandton City’s Diamond Walk – can anyone say “homesick”? Not only is this store the continent’s flagship (and modelled on the new look as seen in the Avenue Montaigne store by architect Peter Marino) but Louis Vuitton was also the first major luxury brand to arrive in South Africa in 2004, which fits perfectly with the maison’s rich history in exploration and travel. In 1865 Monsieur Louis Vuitton even designed the trunk bed, a bed that fitted inside one of his famous trunks which was used by the notorious French explorer and establisher of French colonies in Africa, Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza – yup, trust only the French to have come …

Labellecrush x LouisVuitton

It’s not often a girl gets a great opportunity with a lust-have-must-have luxury brand like Louis Vuitton – and this time, I’m not even talking handbags here – I’m talking about sitting at the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week surrounded by fashion’s finest tweeting from Louis Vuitton South Africa’s twitter account. I think I may still be in shock, and up until I received this gorgeous invite I didn’t really believe it was going to happen – it is on! See more details on Louisvuitton.com I’m grabbing this once-in-a-lifetime chance, along with my borrowed new season handbag, and tweeting my ass off! Come and join me, it’ll be awesome to have the support, as I tweet you through the show in 140 characters and a few images at a time! You’ll find me at @louisvuitton_za Wish me luck! XO

My ABC’s of NYFW

A/W 2015 #NewYorkfashionweek at a glance It’s awesome that it’s still winter right?* I mean in the kind of way that as the new collections for the neeeeeeext cold season are steaming up the catwalks we can already calculate what we’re adding to our wardrobes now, or what hair, shoe and bag trends we’ll be keeping and which ones we’ll be ditching . As I try (mediocrely) hard to start a capsule wardrobe for myself – um, let’s call this a “work in process” – I’m doing a mini shop in my mind for which items I’ll be buying to add to this slow-in-the-progess capsule wardrobe. A/W 2015 fashion weeks are far from over (roll on the rest of London, on to Milan and finally my home city Paris) to finalise this mini-shop, but for now, here are a few things I’ve noticed from the New York catwalks to wet the wardrobe appetite, and a few street style favourites to give you inspiration right now… * I talk about winter, even though as I write this I’m …

Carven presents its Saint Sulpice bag in the cutest mini-movie

It may seem as if I’m obsessed with handbags, and that would be a loud YES! But who isn’t with a whole new season of the beauties around? This cute video entitled “Can you hold my bag” directed by Mélinda Triana for Carven, landed in my inbox the other day and I’ve played it at least 13 times. Chic girls running around perfect Paris with Carven’s latest Saint Sulpice bags … I had you at handbag right?     http://www.carven.com

Wishing for the hippest arm candy

You may have seen these gorgeous multi-coloured wrist adornments in the last few years when they’ve become awesomely popular, but do you know the story behind these colourful strings? Created by two Parisian women, Jenny and Delphine, who were inspired after their travels in Brazil and as the story goes, these coloured ribbons are given out to visitors in the city of Salvador, Brazil as a symbol of luck. They are tied onto the left wrist by a third party – each one tied with three knots and each knot comes with a wish made by the wearer. Once they have aged and finally fall off it is believe that your wishes have come true. The Hipanema duo used the idea of these multicoloured ribbons and devised a way for us to wear them as a fashion accessory – taking 200-year old tradition and making it trés boho chic. Each bracelet has a few strands of coloured ribbon, pearls, beading, shells and threads that join onto a chic magnetised clasp which make it super easy to wrap around …
