Multiple piercings, it’s a thing.

A few months ago I had a third hole pierced in my ears. The last installment to my trilogy didn’t feel as extreme as when belly rings were en vogue and I had that done, or when I had the top of my ear pierced or the secret tattoo inked. However, I most definitely DID feel like a teenager when I walked into the brightly coloured neon-lit Claire’s Accessories and sat on the cheerful pink high-chair (surrounded by Hello Kitty paraphernalia!) and was presented with a plethora of rainbow coloured earring options by a young nervous working student who was about to shoot my ear with a lethal dart gun (Okay, not that dramatic I guess!). But, yes, it most definitely hurt! If you’ve been thinking about getting another hole done then you’ll be pleased to know that now, more than ever, with earrings and piercings once again popping up on the A/W 2015 catwalks there is no better time than now after all! Erm, okay so not quite what I had in mind as the Givenchy girls, …

Naomi Campbell for S/S 2015 Burberry campaign

Following in the footsteps of last season’s twosome team-up of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, Burberry features another Brit model duo. This time, for spring/summer 2015, it’s timeless supermodel Naomi Campbell with Jourdan Dunn and the images are spectacular! Lensed, as always, by Mario Testino and creative directed by the talented Christopher Bailey. Jourdan Dunn spoke to Vogue saying, “Burberry is such an iconic brand and I feel very proud to be a part of their campaign and their team,” Dunn told us this morning. “This campaign is even more special for me because I was shot with Naomi Campbell for the first time – someone who I admire and respect within the fashion industry.” I love the mix of new and experienced that Burberry is harnessing, Isn’t it great to have amazing women to look up to? The magical sandal with the gold winged buckle

In search of the perfect summer sandal, I first saw Ancient Greek Sandals in a store in Johannesburg years ago. I was struck by the cute wings on the side, the detailed buckle in the shape of wings and the unique and sexy designs. I saw some again last year holidaying in Crete and then a few months ago in the Parisian go-to concept store, Colette on Rue St Honore. Little did I know the these global shoes, praised by the New York Times, Vogue, Elle and the Financial Times, have a history born out of, you guessed it, ancient Greece. I am a huge fan and not the only one, as the sandals have been seen on the pedicured paws of Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Rihanna, SJP and many others. I don’t remember much about the stories of Ancient Greece. I’m certain I was supposed to have learnt them as part of my 4th Grade curriculum but (and perhaps sadly) what I know about these ancient gods and Goddesses is from a more modern pop culture to which it seems they …

Love, Style and Bad Habits …

Parisian women have always seemed mysterious. The subtle pout, the nonchalant way they carry themselves and their confident low-key look that oozes femininity. Think Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Tautou, Marion Cotillard or Vanessa Paradis – sexy, stylish, alluring and seemingly mysterious and untouchable… until now. How to be Parisian Wherever You Are : Love, Style and Bad Habits is an insightful tongue and cheek manual written by four friends and Paris natives, Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret and Sophie Mas. I’ve just finished the book in Thailand (great for the holiday attention span!) and it’s the perfect handbook on how the modern Parisian woman manages to stay so mysterious that can be practiced wherever you are in the world. It’s penned as if you’ve just made friends with a bossy, opinionated Parisian and she’s dishing her intimate secrets, obviously with immaculate red lips while sipping a glass of red wine with a cigarette in hand! She’ll share her fashion tips, teach you how to make your boyfriend jealous and enlighten you on the etiquette for beauty products and plastic surgery. She’s the Paris …

The devil on my shoulder

A lot of my email box is full of spam! Yes, I know at some point it is me that has signed up for the spa/Groupon/cosmetics/fashion/sales newsletter, but I do spend a disproportionate amount of time deleting these annoying daily mailers. However, there is THE one that gets me all tingly when I hear the “ping” noise as it pops into my inbox. As soon as it arrives, it’s bold subject line taunts me until I direct that little arrow and press click… vestiairecollective.
