Pimp your normcore sneakers

Normcore is here to stay, you know the unisex fashion trend that has taken the last few seasons by storm and dressed even the most fashionable fashionistas and celebs in unpretentious and average-looking clothing so they can distinguish themselves and be unique? !?! Whether for convenience, laziness, pure comfort or stand-out appeal, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast, and so if like me, you’ve purchased that obligatory pair of white, non-descript, unpretentious pair of ‘tennis shoes’ but are feeling like they could do with a little “dressing up”, then you’re in luck! Check out these cute and easy concepts that I spotted at Le Bon Marche – jewels, coloured laces, stars, pom-poms, the list goes on. If you haven’t got yourself a pair then perhaps here’s the perfect reason to get them now, you can create a new pair of shoes with an easy accessory! Bling those snow-white sneaks with these ideas, and if you haven’t visited the new shoe department at Le Bon Marche yet then get to it – you won’t be disappointed!

Louis Vuitton A/W 2015 show diary : see all the pics

Fashion week month is over and the hangover has set in. I had a huge party and now my head’s  little fuzzy with the realisation that it’s over and I’ll have to wait a whole season for all those designs to hit the stores! The Louis Vuitton show, held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton was the climax for me. Not only did I get all dressed up, have amazing access to see front rowers and celebs entering the Fondation but I revelled in experiencing the energy of the show, eyeballed who was wearing what, marvelled at the ingenious structure, designed by Es Devlin, and ogled Nicolas Ghesquière’s magnificent collection. If you haven’t managed to watch it yet – GO! The highlight was taking over Louis Vuitton’s South African twitter account, alongside well-known bloggers (Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine and The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni, amongst others who took over their respective home country’s accounts). What a fun experience and I’m still pinching myself! Eeny, meeny, miny, moe which one will I take to go?

Do you remember a time before the smart phone? I kinda do, but way back in my memory (I will admit I don’t have a very good one!) My point here is that, before I watched the promo video for the Apple Watch I wasn’t convinced that I would ever need something like THAT and I would far rather have a Cartier, Rolex or Chanel timepiece. Why would I want a timekeeper that looks like a miniature iPhone strapped to my wrist? Well, todays question to myself is, which one am I choosing? All I know is that this little piece of technology will basically run your life. You can text, what’s app, email, use google maps, request an Uber, call your mom, summon Siri and besides all that, it will also do that basic telling the time thing within “50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard” – what does that even mean? For every message or alert you set on this thoughtful timepiece, it will give you a gentle tap and you can even connect with your favourite people by sending …

3’s a trend : The head band

I’ve always been a fan of the headband, especially on those more-than-usual tighter-for-time mornings, you know the ones, where you should really wash your hair, but know that you’ll never  leave the house on time and so you scrape it back hoping no-one will notice that it’s looking a little in need of a shampoo? Well finally, here’s the answer to all your problems. Clever Proenzer Schouler, Fendi and Chanel must have been thinking of those mornings when they sent their models down their A/W 2015 catwalks in up style hair-do’s and headbands. Thank you, you’ve saved us. More images on Style.com

Jean Paint

Most of the time I’m trying to avoid paint on my pants. Small children with coloured markers and “fun” water colours with little brushes are never safe! But it doesn’t seem to be the same way at chez Stefani/Rossdale. Gwen has been stepping out a lot recently in these painted denims, that yes, are designer. But I’m just not convinced, they look a little “I’ve been renovating the mansion and got paint all over my jeans”. But then, Jessica Alba and Rita Ora have also been snapped wearing these paint splattered denims, and surely they can’t ALL be renovating, so I’m assuming this is a ‘three-makes-a-trend”. There, I said it. It’s a trend. This weekend, I might just let the kids go wild with the paint and markers, let them get all Jackson Pollack on me, but probably not. Want to know how to play it cool “Front Row”?

Caroline de Maigret will tell you! If you haven’t heard the name Caroline de Maigret you’ll probably recognise her face has having covered some of the best fashion magazine covers across the world. The granddaughter of the former minister of the Interior and Health in France, Prince Michel Poniatowski, and the daughter of Count Bertrand de Maigret (this makes her pure blue-blood amongst french circles), Caroline is a successful model (appearing on Vogue US, Vogue UK, and Italian Vogue as well as walked the runway for Chanel and Prada in the last year alone). She’s a Chanel muse and owner of her own record label and publishing company. The Ultimate Parisian style icon is also the best-selling author of How to be Parisian Wherever You Are and is mom to Anton – whew! Talk about the ultimate multi-tasker. My very own luxury hound slipper – whaaat!?

The fashion world can definitely take themselves too seriously at times – especially when we’re talking fashion weeks. Four weeks per season where editors, buyers, designers, PR peeps, bloggers and models do the four cities – New York, London, Milan and Paris – in just over four weeks. Whew! This week we started the last of the leg of the marathon month in jolie Paris, but I thought I’d do a little catwalk-recap of Milan. While looking through the hundreds of catwalk pics from Missoni to Marni there is one particular image that has been stuck on repeat in my memory … The Gucci Hairy Shoes! Was this a joke by newly promoted Creative Director, Alessandro Michele? I mean I know there have been complaints that Gucci hasn’t had a “point of view” but this is an interesting one to take – disruptive perhaps? I do love the fact that perhaps there is a little laugh to be had – I certainly giggled at the thought of Paris’s fashpack cruising along Rue St Honoré with these furry horsebit …
